Relative Calm

I have no time to run amok
And chase the golden band.
My hopes and dreams run from my soul
And seep into the sand.
All I can do is face the storm
And hope I can withstand.


We all have times, within our lives
When all around seems black.
We cannot add, so adding not,
We count what we subtract,
Judging not by what we gain,
But by the things we lack.


Inside each swirling maelstrom
Is a place of calm and peace.
And here we find a brief respite
Where we can breath, at least,
‘Till we're ready to jump once more
Back into the breech.


I cherish these times of quiet now,
(When I was young t'weren't true!)
For life has conflicts great enough,
That I needn't go back through
The heart-breaks born of might-have-beens
And things I didn't do.


So when you think your life is done
And you've lost what you thought best,
When all your wants have been revealed
And all your sins confessed;
Sit back and think how sweet life is
When you finally get a rest.

Well, I went ahead and did it, I started a stock account.

Much to my amazement I got 8 collections/favorites before I had finished uploading the first 20 images. What a trip!

I'm feeling better, BTW, and hopefully this respiratory crap is out of my life for a while. (knock wood)

I've been in a very down mood for a while not really wanting to do anything. Then my step-daughter broke her leg, I mean really broke it like no weight on it. She's having another surgery tonight. So I've been spending all my time (7 am to 9 pm) taking care of 4 of my grandkids. They're all at various places today so I get the morning off! Yeah slept late! On the up side my step-son and his wife had a baby monday so now I'm up to 7 grandchildren! (I'm *way* too young to have that many!)

So sorry I haven't been active, but thanks for checking on me!

Oh, I'm really sorry about your mood and your step daughter, but congrats on your new grandchild!

You're photography is amazing. I really like your desert landscape and vegetation pictures.

I've never to been to an actual desert, it would be nice to visit them one day.
